Eual Robert Whisenhunt

Eual Robert "Abb" Whisenhunt, 84, passed away September 5, 2010 in Bethany. He was born March 13, 1926 in Lula, Oklahoma to Roy and Effie Jane Whisenhunt.

Abb is survived by his wife, Minnie Lou Whisenhunt, of the home; son, Derrell Whisenhunt of Mustang; two daughters, Sue Pemberton and her husband Rodney of Scotsdale, AZ and Tracy Kirschstein of Oklahoma City; nine grandchildren, Travis Pemberton of Ponca City, Jill Pemberton of Santa Cruz, CA, Nicki Milburn of Norman, Tracy Loveless of Mustang, April Wares of Norman, Samantha Whisenhunt of Oklahoma City, Jennifer Boyd of Norman, Sarah Kirschstein and Zachary Kirschstein of Oklahoma City; 13 great grandchildren; and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Alene Douglas Whisenhunt; two sisters, Ollie and Roma; three brothers, Buford, Elmer, and Manual; two son-in-laws, Trent Kirschstein and Max Straily; daughter in law, Rhonda Whisenhunt; stepdaughter, Dorothy Straily; and grandson, Nathan Kirschstein.

Abb was a veteran of the US Army, having served stateside during the Korean War. He served as an anti aircraft gunner trainer. After his service to the Army he discovered his skill as a diesel mechanic working for 45 years in the field, retiring from Fleming Foods in Oklahoma City in 1992 to spend countless hours spoiling his grandchildren. He enjoyed taking his children and then his grandchildren fishing and camping and also enjoyed working in his yard to make it a showplace. He even won an award from the city of Bethany for his imaginative Christmas display!

Services will be 10am Thursday, Sept 9, 2010 at Bill Merritt Funeral Home in Bethany with interment at the Lula, OK Cemetery.
