Opal I. Spenner

Opal I. Spenner January 19, 1916 - August 6, 2010 SALEM - Opal was born in Bristow, Oklahoma to William T. and Louella Belle Morgan. She was the youngest of 17 children. Opal worked at the Stayton Cannery, Paris Woolen Mill and Santiam Memorial Hospital for 19 years. She enjoyed flowers and gardening and cooking. Opal was preceded in death by her 16 brothers and sisters; her first husband, Delbus Whisenhunt in 1953; she married Benjamin Spenner in 1956 and he passed away in 1998; also a son, Raymond in 2002. Opal is survived by her daughters, Claudine Blair of Salem, Shirley Coleman of West Salem, Brenda Dairy of Turner and Mary Colvey of Stayton; sons, Ellis "Bud" Whisenhunt of Salem and John Whisenhunt of Mill City; 22 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. The family wishes to thank Deanna Cox, Becky Heidt, Tami Schott and Melissa Dairy for their loving care and comfort of our mother during her final days. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the American Heart Association . Public visitation will be from 4 - 7 p.m., Tuesday, August 10, 2010 followed by a Rosary at 7 p.m. at Weddle Funeral Chapel, Stayton, Oregon. The Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, August 11, 2010 at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Sublimity. A Rite of Committal will follow at St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery.
