Ellen ""Ellie"" Derr Whisenand

Ellen "Ellie" Johnson Whisenand, 88, of Amboy, died Thursday, Sept. 2, 2010, at Trinity Medical Center, Rock Island, Rock Island Co., IL. She was employed by Woods Brothers, Oregon, for 10 years before retiring.

Mrs. Whisenand was born Oct. 4, 1921, in Amboy, Lee Co., IL, the daughter of Glenn and Clarabelle (King)Derr. She married Myrl Johnson. He preceded her in death on Sept. 29, 1993. She then married Ralph Whisenand on Sept. 29, 2000, in Dixon.

Survivors include her husband; and several nieces and nephews.

She also was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and Daniel Derr; and three sisters, Dottie North, Mary Drumheller, and Hazel Marie Derr.

Her funeral will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at Mihm-Johes Funeral Home, Amboy, with the Rev. Chuck Jeanblanc officiating. Burial will be at Grand Detour Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon to 1 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
