Versie Etta (Turner) Whisnant

Versie Etta Turner Whisnant, age 89, of Morganton, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, August 16th 2010. Versie was born the daughter of the late Clealo Turner and Zennie Waters Turner on September 15, 1920 in Rutherford County. She was a longtime and active member of Salem United Methodist Church, and had retired from the North Carolina School for the Deaf. Versie had a passion for flower gardening, especially roses.

Along with her parents, Versie is preceded in death by her husband, Adam Whisnant; an infant daughter, Frances Kay Whisnant; three brothers; and a sister.

Those left behind to cherish her memory include a sister, Vernette Cook of Casar, eight nephews and one niece.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, July 18th 2010 at Salem United Methodist Church with the Rev. Mark Conforti and Rev. Don Freshour officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Moriah Methodist Church Cemetery in Casar. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.

The family would like to thank the staff of Grace Heights for all the love and support given to Versie over the past few years.
