Katie "Granny Kate" McKee Whisnant

Mrs. Katie (Granny Kate) Whisnant, age 93, of Stockbridge, GA, passed away Tuesday, October 12, 2010 at her residence. Granny Kate was born April 11, 1917 in Cleveland County, NC to the late Charlie McKee and the late Essie Petty McKee. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Ted Whisnant, sons, Wayne and Reid Whisnant, brother, Claude McKee and a sister Daisy Petty. She was a homemaker, enjoyed collecting antiques and member of the Open Range Church of Henry County. Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Lavonda and Bobby Lyle of Stockbridge; brother and sister-in-law, Bob and Shirley McKee of Shelby, NC; 12 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, 13 great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Granny Kate Whisnant will be conducted on Thursday, October 14, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the Open Range Church of Henry County, 500 Pullin Rd., McDonough, GA. Reverend Jason R Lyle will officiate. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in College Park.
