Lillian (Whisnant) Mintz
KINGS MOUNTAIN - Lillian Whisnant Mintz, 97, formerly of Polkville, died Nov. 9, 2010, at her daughter's home in Kings Mountain.
She has made her home for the past six years at Moss Lake with her daughter and son-in-law Pat and Coy Crawford. Born Sept. 6, 1913, in Polkville, she was the youngest of seven children of the late David Barrett Whisnant and Lela Eaker Whisnant. Mrs. Mintz was a charter member of Polkville Baptist Church, where she was their oldest member and remained active until her health began to decline.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Fred Dee Mintz Sr.; infant son, four brothers, Ray Whisnant, Paul Whisnant, Ivey Whisnant and Dr. Clyde Whisnant; two sisters, Ola W. Whisnant and Madge W. Lutz and sister-in-law Virginia Mintz Turner and her husband Lee.
Mrs. Mintz is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Dee and Diane Mintz of the Delight Community near Polkville; three daughters and sons-in-law, Ann and Max Boggs of Fallston, Pat and Coy Crawford of Kings Mountain and Judy Fernald of Hilton Head, S.C.; eight grandchildren and their spouses, Phyllis and Andy Elmore and Andy and Mary Boggs all of Fallston, Brad and Wendy Crawford of Rocky Mount, Darryl and Beth Crawford of Tallahassee, Fla., Amy and William Cable of Hickory, Natalie and Rob Anagrostis of Smyrna, Ga., Trey and Kelly Mintz of Orlando, Fla. and Todd Mintz of Delight; step grand children, Kathy Bardwil and her husband, Brian, Erica Blanchard and her husband, Jeff, all of Polkville, Rebecca Hoyle of Delight and Dustin Hoyle of Casar; 14 great -grandchildren, eight step great- grandchildren and one great- great -grandson.
Visitation: The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday from at Stamey Funeral Home in Fallston
Funeral: The funeral service will be at 4 p.m. Friday at Polkville Baptist Church. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service
