Ilese Whisenant
Ilese Yount Whisenant, 92, of Pony Street, Morganton, died Thursday, Nov. 11, 2010, at Grace Hospital following a brief illness.
Mrs. Whisenant was born Jan. 4, 1918, in Lincoln County, to the late Adolphus Solomon Yount and Essie Heavner Yount.
She was a member of Mull's Grove Baptist Church. Ilese worked at Morganton Full Fashion Hosiery Mill for a number of years, and then retired from Western Carolina Center.
She enjoyed crocheting, word puzzles and reading her Bible. Ilese was a very kind and compassionate person, and devoted to the love and care of her family and others.
She is survived by daughters, Mary Ann Carswell and her husband, Ted, and Faye Noles, all of Morganton; grandchildren, Teresa Massey and her husband, Gary, David Noles, Sean Whisenant and Brian Carswell, all of Morganton, and Michelle Johnson and her husband, Darryl, of Marion; great-grandchildren, Haven Massey, Jake Baker, Olivia Noles, Natalie Carswell and Andrea Johnson; a sister-in-law, Alda Yount of Lincolnton; and a special friend, Elsie Crater of Statesville.
In addition to her parents, Ilese was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Anderson Whisenant; a son, Charles Wayne Whisenant; brothers, Columbus, Ernest, Lee and Charles Yount; a sister, Grace Burke; and a sister-in-law, Lois E. Whisenant.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at Mull's Grove Baptist Church with Brother Bud Jernigan and the Rev. Allan Barlow officiating.
Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Saturday at the church. At other times, the family will be at Mrs. Whisenant's residence.
