Fruita----Mrs. Avery A. Blackshear, 69, of 14 S. Mulberry St., a resident of the Fruita area for 47 years, died at 2:30p.m. Friday in her home. She had been ill for eight months.
Mrs. Blackshear was born Lou-Vera Whisenhunt at Ivanhoe, Tex., on Nov 9, 1897. She spent her early life at Erin Springs, Okla, and was married there on Dec. 24, 1914. She was a member of the Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband; three sons, Lawrence of Salinas, Calif., Alva of Clifton, and Paul of Pomona, Calif.; two daughters, Mrs. Viloet Borge of San Diego, Calif, and Mrs. Frank Jaquette of Fruitvale; three brothers, Fred and Claude Whisenhunt of Lindsay, Okla., and Ward Whisenhunt of Berkeley, Calif; a sister Mrs. Pearl Blevins of Brownfield, Tx.,six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Starks's Chapet. The Rev. Loinard Van Dam will officiate, Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
