Juanita Gilbert Whisnand
ELECTRA — Juanita Gilbert Whisnand, 86, of Electra, Texas, passed away Monday, November 1, 2010, in the Electra Memorial Hospital.
Services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, November 3, 2010, at Aulds Funeral Home of Electra with her grandson, Christopher Whisnand of Ovilla, Texas officiating. Interment will follow in the Electra Memorial Park under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home of Electra.
The family will receive friends from 4:30 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, November 2, 2010, at Aulds Funeral Home of Electra.
Juanita, the next to the youngest of nine children, was born May 13, 1924, in Electra, Texas, to Charles Alexander Gilbert and Mary Eunice Kemple Gilbert.
She and G.W. Whisnand were married August 22, 1942, in Comanche County, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death on October 21, 1976.
Juanita was the owner and operator of Charm Beauty Salon for over thirty years and retired at the age of sixty-two. She was a member of the Southside Church of Christ and the VFW Ladies Auxiliary.
Survivors include one son, Ronnie Whisnand and wife, Kay of Electra; one brother, Pat Gilbert of Electra; two sisters, Essie Belle Davis and Ida June Holland, both of Electra; two grandchildren, Wayne Whisnand and wife, Laurann of Iowa Park, and Christopher Whisnand and wife, Beckiey of Ovilla, Texas; and five great-grandchildren, Zak, Grace, Caity, Nathan and Brian Whisnand.
Serving as pallbearers will be Chad Gilbert, Ralph Gilbert, Zak Whisnand, Shane Mauldin, Rance Rich, and Scott Mersiovsky.
