James Herman Whisenant, 67, of Chattanooga, TN departed this life Thursday, September 30, 2010, at his home.

He was born in Chattanooga to the late Muncie and Bertha Mae Whisenant, and was preceded in death by his son, James Michael Whisenant.

James retired from the city of Chattanooga after many years of service, and was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his loving wife of 46 years, Irene Whisenant; children, Leon Whisenant, Penny Duffey, Carolyn Whisenant; sister, Nancy Diane Kang, all of Chattanooga; nine grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, October 2, 2010, in the chapel with Chaplain Ed Lamond officiating.

Interment will follow in Sarah's Chapel Cemetery in Trenton, Ga.

Family will receive friends after noon today, and prior to the service Saturday at the funeral home.

Arrangements are by W.L. Wilson and Sons Funeral Home, Fort Oglethorpe, GA.
