James Davidson "Satch" Whisenant

WHISENANT ADVANCE - Mr. James "Satch" Davidson Whisenant, 79, of Advance, passed away Tuesday, September 28, 2010 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born August 31, 1931 in Forsyth County to Robert D. and Hallie Merriman Whisenant. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Army and was retired from AT&T. He was a member of the VFW, American Legion and Pioneer's Club. Mr. Whisenant was a member of Faith Chapel where he was a deacon and taught a Men's Sunday School Class. For 20 years, "Satch" was a member of the Triad Umpires Association. He was preceded in death by his parents; a stepson, Terry Lawing; and a daughter, Dawn Whisenant. Surviving are his wife, Peggy Ann Marsh Whisenant; a stepson, Kenneth Maurice Lawing; five sisters, Kathleen Dalrumple, Mae Yucura, Minnie Lee Pack, Lucille Reich and JoAnn Long; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with the Rev. Wesley Tuttle officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. A Graveside Service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Westlawn Gardens of Memory in Clemmons.
