Lucille H Humphrey Whisenant
Lucille H. Whisenant, 89, of Tifton, died Thursday, Oct. 14, 2010, at Tift Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the chapel of Albritton-Beaumont Funeral Directors with the Rev. Jim Duggan officiating. Burial will follow at Oakridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Albritton-Beaumont Funeral Directors.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Bo Cornwell, Mark Garrison, Michael Whisenant, Mark Whisenant, Todd Whisenant, Jeff Zavitkovsky and Linn Hudson. Honorary pallbearers will be the staff members of Southern Care Assisted Living.
Mrs. Whisenant was born July 14, 1921 in Augusta to John W. Humphrey and Virginia Pauline Canty Humphrey, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Aubrey Ollen Whisenant Sr.; a son, Aubrey Ollen Whisenant Jr.; a son-in-law, Bill Taylor; four brothers; three sisters and her stepmother, Vaud Carnes Humphrey. Mrs. Whisenant retired from the Tift County Board of Education where she was employed as a paraprofessional. She was an excellent cook, seamstress and she loved animals, vegetable and flower gardening. She was a member of Second Baptist Church.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Bill R. and Alcy Whisenant of Lake Wylie, S.C.; her daughters and a son-in-law, Ann Taylor and Linda and Hugh Chandler, all of Tifton; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren, all of whom she loved very much. Her special friends and care givers were Teressa Hurley, Shavonne King, Pat Blackmon, Betty Brown and Hospice of Tift Area staff.
