Mary E. Evans

Mary Evelyn (Reinhardt) Evans, entered into eternal rest on January 10, 2011 in Salinas, CA. Born on August 31, 1922 in Chanute, Kansas to George and Edna Reinhardt, she moved to Colorado Springs with her family in 1930, where she lived until 2003. She married Francis (Whiz) Whisenant on August 30, 1942 and had three children, John (Pam) of Marshall, TX, Susan (Steve) Riddoch of Salinas, CA and Martha (Phil) Friend of Colorado Springs. She is survived by two sisters, Jean Burton of Laguna Woods, CA and Ann Burfiend of Colorado Springs, her children; grandchildren Kimberly Webber, Marshall, TX, Jodi Davis, Marshall, TX, Barrie Riddoch, Monterey, CA, Andrew Jaeger, Littleton, CO, Aaron Jaeger, Colorado Springs, CO, and Calah Friend, Lakewood, CO; 8 great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter. Preceded in death by husband Francis (Whiz) Whisenant and husband Bob Evans. She worked many years as a bookkeeper at the Woolworth's in Southgate, as well as the Woolco on W. Uintah Street, and took joy in “her” mountain (Pikes Peak), reading, stitching, crafts, watching sports on TV, and working crossword puzzles. She was a member of Heritage Wesleyan Church in Colorado Springs. Private arrangements are pending.
