Mildred Lee Odear Whisenant

Mildred Lee Odear Whisenant, age 92, of Marion, went to be with the Lord, Jan. 16, 2011 at Sunrise Rehab & Care. She was a member of Mt. Calvary Freewill Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Eli Sam Whisenant; two daughters; Wanita Harvey, Betty Jean Weeks; a son, Baby Whisenant; two grandsons, Christopher Burleson, Donald Hunter; and a great-grandson, Jimmy Dwayne Harvey. Mrs. Whisnant is survived by six children, James Harvey, wife Sandra, of Marion, Leon Harvey, of Nebo, Violet Neighbors, husband Jerry, of Arden, Kenneth Finley, wife Donna, of Marion, Shirley Wilson, husband Boyd, of Nebo, Sue Burleson, husband Jim, of Nebo; 17 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2011 at 2 p.m. at McCall Memorial Chapel at Kirksey Funeral Home in Marion, with Rev. Ray Stockton and Rev. Rick Wood officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at McDowell Memorial Park. The family will be at the home of Kenneth Finley, 393 Arrowhead Trail, Marion, NC 28752. Kirksey Funeral Home in Marion is assisting the family.
