Lillie O Whisenant Cochran

Lillie O. Cochran of Kingsbury, beloved and cherished mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away in San Marcos on Sunday, Jan. 23, 2011 at the age of 83. She was born June 27, 1927, in Lyford, the daughter of the late Henry Richard and Vesta (Pierce) Whisenant.

Lillie's hobbies included canoeing, gardening and traveling; and she was the oldest female competitor to finish in the Texas Water Safari.

Her husband James H. Cochran Sr. preceded her in death in 2006.

She is survived by two sons, James H. Cochran Jr. and wife Susan of San Marcos, and Jerry Cochran and wife Linda of Prairie Lea; two brothers, Norman Whisenant of San Marcos, and Carl Whisenant of Waco; sister Edith Crisp of Wimberley; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Family will receive friends at Pennington Funeral Home today from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 26 in the Pennington Memorial Chapel, with the Rev. Mark Newton officiating. Interment will follow in the Driftwood Cemetery in Driftwood.
