Boyce Whisonant

Boyce Whisonant, 68, of Charlotte, N.C., formerly of Gaffney city clerk and recorder, died suddenly Tuesday at his home in Charlotte, where he had been living for the past 12 years.
Mr. Whisonant was associated with his wife, Mrs. Lula Whisonant, who died several years ago, in the operation of Whisonant store here for a number of years.
He was born and reared at Wilkinsville, a son of the late Calvin and Margaret McCulloch Whisonant. He attended the McArthur school in Gaffney and afterwards assisted his father in the operation of a store and cotton gin at Wilkinsville for several years before he came to Gaffney.
He served as city clerk and recorded for about 10 years.
He was a member of the First Presbyterian church in Charlotte. He was a former member and elder of the Limestone Presbyterian church here.
Funeral services will be held here at the chapel of Craft Mortuary, interment in the Oakland cemetery.

He is survived by 3 daughters, MRS. LEROY LOVE, York, MRS. RYAN LAWSON, Clinton, and MRS. JAMES GOURLEY, Sharon; 2 sisters, MRS. L.K. LITTLEJOHN, Gaffney and MRS. FAYE FORT, Blacksburg; a half-sister, MRS. JAMES R. DURHAM, Columbia and a half- brother, J.R. McCULLOCH, of Gaffney.
