Mrs. Lizzie Chambers

Commerce - Lizzie Whisnant Chambers, 97, Rt. 1, died Friday, April 8.

A native of Lumkin county, she was a daughter of the late Jeff and Mandie Wilkins Whisnant. She was a member of the followers of Christ.

She was the widow of Gilbert Chambers.

Funeral services will be Sunday at 3 p.m. at the chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, with the Revs. Michael Payne and Earling Omdell officiating. Burial will be in the Grove Level Baptist Church cemetery.

Survivors include four sons, Claude Chambers, Nichols, Guy Chambers, Wrightsville, Ed Chambers, Commerce, and Roy Chambers, Orchard Hill; six daughters, Mrs. Nellie Pittman, Ellenwood, Mrs. Mauddell Vanvelzen, Griffin, Mrs. May Moore, Griffin, Mrs. Jeannette Marcum, Peru, Illinois, Mrs. Martha McElroy, Commerce, and Mrs. Mary Stokes, Fayetteville; four brothers, Manuel Whisnant, Gainesville, Wilborn Whisnant, Commerce, J.C. Whisnant, Pendergrass, Swain Whisnant, Dry Pond; a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

The body is at the funeral home and the family is at the residence of William McConnell, Nicholson.
