Burleens Lena (Eaker) Whisnant

SHELBY-Burleens "Lena" Eaker Whisnant, 72, of 4517 Polkville Road, died Friday March 4, 2011, at White Oak Manor in Shelby.

Born in Cleveland County on Sept. 19, 1938, she was a daughter of the late Cecil Lee Eaker and Bessie Proctor Eaker. She was a clerk for Polkville Petroleum and a member of Polkville United Methodist Church.

She is suvived by two sons, Richard Whisnant Jr., and wife, Loretta of Lawndale and Robert Whisnant of Polkville; daughter, Suzanne Walker and husband, Philip of Shelby; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Garland and Edith Eaker of Hickory and Gene and Peggy Eaker of Lawndale; four sisters, Mary Eaker of Lawndale, Selma White of Morganton, Dorothy Hendrick and husband, Hal of Shelby, and Wilma Towery and husband, Ray of Lattimore; four grandchildren, Emily Walker, Matthew Whisnant and wife, Jill Danielle Walker and James Walker and one great grandchild, Hayden Walker.

Visitation: The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Saturday at Stamey Funeral Home in Fallston. Ms. Whisnant's re-mains will lie-in-state 30 minutes prior to the service at the church
