Billie Steve Whisenant

Billie Steve Whisenant, 83, of Lamesa passed away on Wednesday March 9, 2011 in Lubbock. He was born on May 16, 1927 in Buda, Texas to Lena Sue (Floyd) and Steve Ernest Whisenant. He married Freda Snell on July 3, 1954 in Portales, N.M. Billie served in the United States Army during WWII. He was a long-time member of Northside Baptist Church. He retired from Occidental Petroleum.

Survivors include his wife, Freda Whisenant of Lamesa; children, Debbie McLeod and husband, Mark of Slaton, Lyndon Whisenant and Jerrie Read of Mansfield; grandchildren, Joe Coffman of Abilene, Steven Coffman of Lamesa, and Ty Whisenant of Austin; and sister, Mickie Roper and husband Norman of Lubbock.

Billie was preceded in death by his parents, Lena and Steve Whisenant; brother, Floyd Whisenant; and sister, Glennis Spencer.
