Mildred "Mickey" Whisnant
Mildred "Mickey" Joyce Perkins Whisnant, age 81, of East Maiden RD., Maiden passed passed away Monday, April 4, 2011 at Cardinal Care in Lincolnton. Born August 17, 1929 in Lincoln County, she was the daughter of the late R.P. Perkins and the late Clara Hoke Perkins. She was a member of Lawings Chapel Baptist Church in Maiden. In addition to her parents, four brothers, R.C. Perkins, Claude Perkins, Donald Perkins, Brian Perkins and a sister, Catherine Poole preceded her in death. Survivors include husband of 63 years, William "Scratch" Whisnant of Cardinal Care, Lincolnton; one brother, Kermit Perkins and wife, Cindy of Lincolnton; three sisters, Shirley Richard and husband, Rusty of Iron Station; Jewel McConnell and husband, Perry of Denver, Kay Helton and husband, Robert of Stanley; two sisters-in-law, Nellie Perkins of Iron Station and Margaret Perkins of Stanley; and a number of nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, April 6, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. at Lawings Chapel Baptist Church in Maiden with the Rev. Marion Powell and Rev. Raymond Hamrick officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends, prior to the service, from 2:00-2:45 p.m. at the church.
