Mary Whisnant MORGANTON Mary "Dolly" Phillips Whisnant, 89, of Morganton, went to be with the Lord on Monday, April 11, 2011 at Grace Hospital. She was born on Feb. 27, 1922 in Burke County to the late Cameron and Mary Elizabeth Benfield Phillips. She was a member of St. Mary's Episcopal Church. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend and will be greatly missed. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Ned C. Whisnant; 5 brothers and 3 sisters. She is survived by her sons Phillip Whisnant and his late wife Linda Joyce; and Steven Whisnant and wife Patricia all of Morganton; a brother Charles Phillips; 6 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 14, 2011 at Zion Baptist Church from 11:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, April 14, 2011 at Zion Baptist Church at 1 p.m. with Reverend Dr. Steve Parker and Reverend Keith Rose. Burial will follow at Burke Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Zion Baptist Church 3396 Pea Ridge Road, Morganton, N.C. 28655.
