Arnold Whisnant

Mr. Arnold Leon Whisnant, 46, of Morganton, passed away on Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at his residence. Arnold was born on Dec. 4, 1964 in Burke County to Martha Powell Whisnant and the late Levi Whisnant. He was currently employed by the Department of Corrections in the Western Region Maintenance Division. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by one sister, Doris Jean Whisnant and one brother, Kevin Stacy Whisnant. Surviving in addition to his mother, is his wife, Marsha Sprinkle Whisnant of the home; two daughters, Autumn Skeens and her husband, Brian of Marion; and Ashley Greene and her husband, Chris of Marion; five brothers, Mike Whisnant, Levi Whisnant, Jr., Jerry Whisnant, David Whisnant and Steve Whisnant; and four sisters, Patricia Whisnant, Geraldine Fox, Anni Arnette and Connie Padgett, all of Morganton. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Brison Skeens, Nicholas Skeens and Cutter Greene and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 10, at 11 a.m. at Calvary Assembly of God in Morganton. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Service in Valdese and at other times will gather at Martha Powell Whisant's residence, 3715 Pea Ridge Rd. in Morganton.
