Aileen E. Hawkins

Aileen Emily Whisnant Hawkins, 80, went to be with the Lord on June 19, 2011.

Born in Greenville, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Martha Stone Whisnant. Aileen was retired from Union Carbide, with over 20 years of employment; and of the Baptist faith.

Surviving are five children, Nancy E. Johnson of Aynor, SC, Charles Whitmire and his wife Linda of Greenville, Steve A. Whitmire of Greenville, Aileen Marie Edge and her husband Don of Taylors, and Janice Browning and her husband Gary of Wellington, CO; grandchildren, Aileen, Jamie, Julie, Paul, Charles, Melissa, James Hunter, Era, James, Donald, and Ansley; one great grandchild, McKenzie; one sister, Audrey Whisnant; one brother-in-law, Doug Cox; and one sister-in-law, Mildred Whisnant. Predeceased were three brothers and two sisters, James Whisnant, Charles Whisnant, Jack Whisnant, Vera Bridwell, and Gaynell Cox.

A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m., Wed., Jun. 22 at Cremation Society of South Carolina, 328 Dupont Dr., Greenville, SC. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Vista Care Hospice or Cancer Centers of the Carolinas.
