Annie Mae Whisenant
Graveside services for Annie Mae Whisenant, age 100, of Sulphur Springs, will be held at 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 29, 2011 at Old Pickton Cemetery with Bro. Fred Lewis officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at West Oaks Funeral Home. Miss Whisenant passed away on Monday, June 27, 2011 at Atria Assisted Living in Tyler, TX. She was born on November 1, 1910 in Pickton, TX the daughter of Oscar and Cora (Jackson) Whisenant. She received her bachelor's degree in education, and worked as a school teacher for 46 years. Miss Whisenant was a member of the Retired Teachers Association, a sewing club, Diamond Sets, and was a Sunday school secretary for the youth department. She is survived by nephew, Jerry Jennings and wife Lequida of Sulphur Springs, nieces, JoBeth Dickerson and husband Jack of Quitman, Rose Giles and husband Terry of Tyler, and numerous great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Margaret Whisenant Jennings, and brother, W.M. (Bud) Whisenant. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of East Texas, 4111 University Blvd, Tyler, TX 75701, or the First Baptist Church Building Fund, 116 Oak Ave, Sulphur Springs, TX 75482. Arrangements are under the direction of West Oaks Funeral Home.
