Anna Imogene Hurst Whisenhunt
Anna Imogene Whisenhunt passed away Wednesday June 29, 2011, in Muskogee, OK at the age of 79 years, 1 month and 6 days. Imogene was born in Lyford, TX on May 23, 1932, to Robert and Anna (Brinsfield) Hurst.
Imogene attended school at Central High. She married Claude Whisenhunt on October 30, 1950, in Oklahoma City. They made their home for nine years in California, but they spent most of her life living in the Checotah area. Imogene was always active in church, playing piano and teaching Sunday school classes and youth services, as well as serving as church secretary. Imogene loved singing with her family and loved gospel music almost as much as she loved her family. She treasured spending time with her family and was always a devoted wife.
Imogene is preceded in death by her parents, Bob and Anna Hurst; her sister, Gladys Hurst and an infant sister, Maxine Hurst; her brothers, Ben and Richard Hurst; and a daughter-in-law, Kathy Whisenhunt.
She is lovingly survived by her husband of 60 years, Claude Whisenhunt; children, Joe Whisenhunt and his wife Betty Jean of Checotah, Mary Storm and her husband Hoy of Checotah, Tim Whisenhunt and his wife Marje of Checotah, Lisa Glover and her husband Darren of Checotah; brother, Bobbie Hurst and his wife Mary of Checotah; two sisters, Margaret Robison and her husband Lonnie of Checotah, OK and Carol Williams and her husband Steve of Glenpool, OK; grandchildren, Heidi Anson, Bryon Smith, Hanni Day and her husband Jon, Aprel Paris and her husband Seth, Amanda Crawford, Justin Storm, Dustin Storm, Magen Robison and her husband Chris, Emma Ellison and her husband Richard, Austin Storm, Westin Storm, Tyler Glover and Taylor Glover; 19 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins as well as many friends and loved ones.
A service celebrating the life of Imogene will be 10 am Saturday, July 2, 2011, at Checotah Church of God. Interment will follow in Triplett Cemetery with Darren Glover, Hoy Storm, Herman McBride, Tyler Glover, Bryon Smith and Westin Storm serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Jim Hart, Bob Montgomery, Lonnie Robison, F.D. Sexton, Earnest Hughes, Allen Spencer, Taylor Glover, Nolan Barnes and Steve Williams.
Services are entrusted to Hampton Mortuary of Checotah.
