Robert Cecil Whisnant

POLKVILLE- Robert Cecil Whisnant, 46, of 4517 Polkville Road, has completed his journey on this world, July 14, 2011.

Born June 4, 1965, in Cleveland County, he was employed by Altec Industries, Inc. and was an experienced machinist, welder and maintenance technician.

Robert grew up with and enjoyed hunting and fishing and the shooting sports. He was a strong individual that fought against and defeated great adversity during his life and was a great example of strength to those who knew him. Robert especially enjoyed the company of his family. He is sorely missed.

Robert was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Burleens "Lena" Eaker Whisnant. He is survived by a sister, Suzanne Whisnant Walker and husband, Philip of Shelby; a brother, Richard Brison Whisnant, Jr. and wife, Loretta of Lawndale; father, Richard "Dicky" Brison Whisnant and wife, Anne of Polkville; twonephews, Matthew Whisnant and wife, Jill and James Walker; two nieces, Emily Walker and Danielle Walker and Derek Cline; two great nephews, Hayden Walker and Lane Cline and an extensive and close family of aunts, uncles and cousins of the Eaker and Whisnant families of upper Cleveland County.

Visitation: The family will receive friends 5-7 p.m. Saturday at Stamey Funeral Home

Funeral Service: 3 p.m. Sunday at Polkville United Methodist Church. The body will lie in state thirty minutes before the service.
