Elzie B "Jiggs" Whisnant

Elzie B. Whisnant "Jiggs", 91, died Friday, July 8, 2011 at Mason County Hospital in Shelton of natural causes. He was a resident of Shelton for 47 years.

He was born March 16, 1920 to elzie B. Whisnant and Grace (Harrison) Whisnant in Clarksville, Ark.

He married Clemmie Adelene King on August 21, 1942 in Elma.

He worked in plywood shipping and supply for Simpson Timber Company for 40 years.

He enjoyed his family, raising animals and farming his property with his tractors. His family shared that he had a great capacity for listening, caring and helping others. They said he was compassionate and generous with a good sense of humor.

He is survived by his daughter Joyce Dickinson of Shelton; son David Ralph Whisnant of Tumwater; sisters Betty Jane Call of Little Rock, Ark. and Betty Griffin of Des Moines; grandchildren Sue Cuzick of Shelton; Bob Dickinson of Edmonds, Nichole Helser of Shelton, Natale Cuzick of Shelton and Ryan P. Whisnant of Lacey.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Clemmie, brother Ralph, sisters Leo Jennings, Opal Harris and Marcie Ancheta.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 15 at the Shelton Memorial Park located at 1605 Van Buren St. in Shelton.

Memorial donations can be made to the American Heart Association.
