Ruth Weed Whisonant

Whisonant, Lady Ruth Weed passed from this life to the eternal on Friday evening, July 22 at 8:10 PM. She was a long time resident of Montgomery, AL. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Jack C. Whisonant, her daughter, Cindy Ruth Whisonant and her son, Chester Keith Whisonant. She is also survived by a daughter-in-law, Karen Cranford Whisonant and two grandsons, Brandon Keith Whisonant and Mitchell Keith Whisonant. Mrs. Whisonant lived numerous places in Alabama before her family settled in Ariton, Alabama in the early 1930's. She is also survived by her sister Betty Moring of Mississippi, and four brothers, Joe Weed of Maine, Larry Weed of Louisiana, David Weed of Florida and Bob Weed of Florida. Mrs. Whisonant was a 50+ year member of the Dalraida Baptist Church in Montgomery, AL. She was Discipleship Training Director for over 30 years. She sang in the choir and taught Sunday School for many years. She was involved in WMU and served on many committees while always training new leaders for the future church. Mrs. Whisonant was a retired State of Alabama employee, having started with the Retirement Systems in 1946. At her retirement she was the Head of the Bureau of Vital Statistics. Upon retirement she turned her entire focus to the family she loved providing for them in wonderful, motherly, Christian love. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 26 at 10:00 AM and service at 11:00 AM at the Dalraida Baptist Church located at 3838 Wares Ferry Road in Montgomery.
