E. RAY WHISENANT
E. RAY WHISENANT COCOA -- E. Ray Whisenant, 76, a retired chief of component logistics, died Saturday, June 24, 2000, at home.
Mr. Whisenant was born in Decatur, Ala. He came to Brevard County in 1955 from Huntsville, Ala.
He was an Army veteran of World War II and the Korean War.
Mr. Whisenant worked for NASA at Kennedy Space Center prior to his retirement. He also worked as an analyst for Planning Research Corporation at KSC.
Mr. Whisenant was an original member of Warner Van Braun's rocket development team. He worked on the Redstone and Saturn rockets and was involved in more than 100 launches at KSC.
He was a member of North Merrit Island United Methodist Church.
Mr. Whisenant was a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Betty Whisenant of Cocoa; daughters, Wendy Liput of Brandon and Beth Scherer of Fort Lauderdale; brother, Lester Whisenant of Sandy Springs, Ga.; and two grandsons.
No calling hours are scheduled. Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at North Merritt Island United Methoidst Church. East Coast Cremation in Rockledge is in charge of arrangements.
