Edgar Ray Whisenhunt

Edgar Ray Whisenhunt, 89, of Columbia, formerly of Centralia, entered into rest Monday, Sept. 5, 2011, at Meyer Care Center in Higginsville.
Graveside services and interment will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 9, at Glendale Memorial Gardens. The Rev. Kevin Glenn, pastor of Memorial Baptist Church in Columbia, will be officiating. He was born April 2, 1922, in Mount Vernon, Ill., the son of Walter Ray and Nona Mae Lisenby Whisenhunt. He married Rosemary Baker on June 1, 1957, in Mount Vernon, and she preceded him in death on March 18, 1999. Survivors include four children, Gary Ray Dauksch and wife Wanda of Berry Creek, Calif., Janice Kay Dauksch of Columbia, Elizabeth Paulette Day of Harrisburg and Nona Rebecca Dochterman of Lexington; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, James and Charles Whisenhunt; and two sisters, Joyce Green and Ella Mae Gricius.

He was a graduate of Mount Vernon High School. He was a welder for Brady Glass Co. and retired from the 3M Co. maintenance department, both in Columbia. Fenton Funeral Chapel in Centralia is in charge of arrangements.
