Barney James Whisenhunt

BARNEY WHISENHUNT Barney Whisenhunt, 83, a retired driller, of Las Vegas, passed away Sept. 12, 2011, at home peacefully, surrounded by his family. He was born July 6, 1928, in Montgomery County, Ark., and had come to Nevada in 1960 to work at the Nevada Test Site as an operating engineer, and later went into management for Reynolds Electric Engineers Company. Barney is survived by his loving wife, Ruth, of 62 years; his children, Ed (Michelle) Webb, Sheila (Terry) Barnson, Sandra (Richard) Beckwith, Sharin (Doug) Irvine, and Tami Bailey; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; his siblings, Virginia (Bob) Padgett, Billy (Sharon) Whisenhunt, Bobby (Joyce) Whisenhunt and Roy (Vesta) Whisenhunt. Barney will be greatly missed by all who loved him. Visitation will be 3-7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 16, at Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, at Spring Valley Baptist Church, 3135 S. Rainbow Blvd. In lieu of flowers, please make donation to the Spring Valley Baptist Church's building fund.
