Sadie D. Whisonant

SALISBURY - Sadie D. Whisonant, 84, formerly of South Shaver Street, who departed this life Monday Aug. 15, 2011, at Genesis HealthCare, was born to the late Sarah Huly Welborne Sept. 9, 1926, in Rowan County.

Retired from W.G. "Bill" Hefner VA Medical Center, she was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore W. Whisonant.

She leaves memories to nephews who were reared in her home, Steve (Annette) Hines of Shelby, Ryan Evans, Jamone Kelly and Cordell Mitchell, all of Salisbury; nieces Latrease Kendall, Crystal Johnson, both of Salisbury; sisters Sarah W. Evans and Pauline Holmes, both of Salisbury; and a host of other nephews, nieces and relatives.

Service and Visitation: Funeral services will be Friday Aug. 19 at 1:30 p.m. at Rowan Funeral Services Chapel. Burial will follow in Rowan Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to service. Published in Salisbury Post on August 18, 2011
