Paul Edward Whisenhunt
(September 6, 1931 - September 15, 2011)
Paul E. Whisenhunt, better known as “Hooter” was born on September 6, 1931 to the late James and Mae Whisenhunt in Foreman, Arkansas. He passed away on September 15, 2011 in Fresno, California, shortly after his 80 birthday. Soon after his birth his family moved to Los Angles, and in 1935 they migrated to the Central California where they settled in Selma. At the age of 18 Paul joined the U.S Air Force; he was stationed in Lackland Air Force Base, in San Antonio, Texas for basic training and served stateside during the Korean conflict at Chanute AFB, Illinois and Castle AFB, California. After returning home, he went to work at the family business “Doyle’s Billiards” where he proudly worked alongside father. Paul was also a skilled welder; he worked this trade for more than 30 years. He was a former employee of Massey-Ferguson and a member of the Plumbers and Steamfitters UA local 246. This is where he formed many brotherly relationships. In his spare time, Paul enjoyed bowling at Freeway Lanes, was an avid golfer at the Selma Valley Golf Course and was a twice member of the Kings River Golf and Country Club. He loved riding motorcycles, RV trips to the beach, and traveling in general. He loved Hawaii, but not as much as he loved spending time with his family and friends poolside. Paul he is survived by his wife, Mary Mechigian Whisenhunt of Selma, son; Lance Whisenhunt of Kingsburg and daughter; Janine and her husband Ronnie Wilson, granddaughters; Dana and Jodie Whisenhunt, brother in-law; Dave Dyar, nieces; Denise Dyar and Michelle Barcellos and her family Dan, Tyler and Madison as well as his Cousins Ken Dawson, Llyod Dawson, Vera Barnett, Judy Firmalo and J.B. Phillips. Paul was a loving husband and a devoted father; he will be missed and loved always. A Visitation will be held on Monday, September 19, 2011 from 6:00 to 7:00 pm at Page Funeral Chapel, Selma, California. A Graveside Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, September 20, 2011, 10:00 am at Kingsburg Cemetery, Kingsburg, California.
