Charlotte Elizabeth (Whisenant) Currie

Charlotte Elizabeth (Whisenant) Currie, 52, of Lufkin, was born October 18, 1959 in Houston, Texas. She passed away Monday, December 12, 2011 in a Houston hospital. Charlotte was and LVN at Lufkin State School. She was a volunteer with Memorial Heath Systems of East Texas and Little League Baseball. She put her heart into anything she did. She was compassionate and had the biggest heart and never had a bad word to say about anyone. She enjoyed hunting and fishing, and her hobbies were whatever her family’s hobbies were. She especially adored her grandbabies. Charlotte was a member of Clawson Assembly of God. Survivors include her husband, Stephen M. Currie; son and daughter-in-law, Chad Richard and Amanda Whisenant; daughter, Holly Michelle Whisenant; stepsons, Jason Currie and Jacob Currie; grandchildren, Nolan, Joshua, Andrew, Kayelyn, Zoey and Lexi; mother Alice Marie Whisenant; bother and sister-in-law, James “Jimmy” R. and Barbara Daniels; brother, Bill Whisenant; sister and brother-in-law, Brenda Marie and David Carrell; her very dearly loved nieces and nephews; and a number of other family members and friends. Charlotte was preceded in death by her father, Richard Whisenant; and uncle, A.D. Whisenant. Pallbearers will be James Mettlen, David Anthony Carrell, Joseph Carrell, James Calvin Daniels, W.A. Sides and Hollis Stringer. Memorial contributions in Charlotte’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Services for Charlotte will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, December 15, 2011 in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel, with Richard Owen officiating. Interment will follow in the Gann Cemetery.
