Luther 'Luke' Henry Whisenhunt Funeral services for Luther "Luke" Henry Whisenhunt, 75, of Cullman will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 19, 2011, at St. John's Evangelical Protestant Church, the Rev. Steve Wood and Pastor Robert Kurtz officiating, with interment in Cullman Memory Gardens. The body will lie in state from noon to 1 p.m. at the church. Moss-Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Whisenhunt passed away Friday, Dec. 16, at his residence, surrounded by his loving family. He was born March 14, 1936, to Johnny and Christine Clark Whisenhunt. He was a fireman for the city of Cullman in his younger years. He was a boat mechanic for many years and retired from R.E. Garrison Trucking Company after 29 years as a diesel mechanic and shop foreman. He retired to the farm. He was an avid fisherman and deer hunter.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Alvin and Arville Whisenhunt; a nephew, John Whisenhunt; and a brother-in-law, Carl Allred.

Survivors include his loving wife of 58 years, Maxine Huck Whisenhunt; a son, Mark (Cindy) Whisenhunt; a daughter, Rosemary (David) Herge; a sister, Mary Allred; four sisters-in-law; eight grandchildren, Lindsey (Wesley) Slaton, Mallory (Matt) Jorgenson, Zachary Whisenhunt, Jeremy Brooks, Lukas Hagood, Ryan Whisenhunt, Emily Whisenhunt and Lydia Herge; four great-grandchildren, Destinee and Gavin Ray, Keith Slaton and Mary Jorgenson; and a host of nieces, nephews and other family.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Gentiva Hospice, 1213 Cullman Shopping Center NW, Cullman, AL 35055; or to St. John's Evangelical Protestant Church.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
