Robert Leon Whisenant

Robert Leon Whisenant, 85, of Hulaco died Sunday, Nov. 20, 2011, at Huntsville Hospital.

Mr. Whisenant was born Sept. 30, 1926, in Morgan County to Timothy Whisenant and Nancy Perkins Whisenant. He was married to the former Helen Wilson Allen for 14 years.

He served in the United States Army 7th Cavalry during World War II and was honorably discharged Nov. 22, 1946, as Private First Class.

He was a retired warehouse manager for Thiokol in Huntsville and was a member of Hebron Church of Christ.

He is survived his wife: Helen Whisenant of Joppa; son and daughter-in-law: James Robert and Sandy Whisenant of Hulaco; daughter and son-in-law: Susan and Jack Beauford of Huntsville; four grandchildren; three step grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He preceded in death by his first wife: Mary Barclift Whisenant; a step daughter: Sonya Allen Brazelton; and five brothers: Manuel Whisenant, Frank Whisenant, Isaac Whisenant, J.W. Whisenant and Lorenzo Whisenant.

The funeral was at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2011, at Hebron Church of Christ with Ray Humphries and Brad Howard officiating. Burial, with military honors, was in the adjoining cemetery with Srab Heritage Memorial Chapel directing.

Pallbearers were Dennis Latham, Bobby Miller, John Whisenant, Matt Whisenant, Ronald Whisenant, Shawn Whisenant, Terry Whisenant and Billy Williams.
