Jack Walden Whisenhunt (1923-2012)
Jack Walden Whisenhunt, 88, went home to fish in Heaven on Jan. 16, 2012.
A service of tribute and love will be held Saturday, Jan. 21, 2012, at Eternal Hills Chapel at 2 p.m.
Jack was born Jan. 24, 1923, in Long, Okla., to Sarah (Barrett) and Ben Whisenhunt. He was the sixth of seven children.
On Feb. 16, 1943, he enlisted in the Army and served during World War II as a paratrooper for the 11th Airborne and was honorably discharged in 1946.
He married Una Mae Coulter on July 22, 1950, in New Mexico. In 1952, they moved to Klamath Falls, Ore.
Jack worked for Kesterson's Mill for five years and then went to work for Weyerhaeuser Co. until his retirement in 1985.
He was a member of Stewart-Lennox Baptist Church and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and rock hounding.
Jack is survived by his wife of 61 years Una Whisenhunt of Klamath Falls, daughters Phyllis Balding of Bassett, Wis., Dixie and Mark Wonser of Klamath Falls, and Shelley Decker of Oxnard, Calif., sons James and Theresa Whisenhunt of Klamath Falls, Dan Whisenhunt and Marlene Snapp of Merrill, and Terry and Holly Whisenhunt of Beaverton, Ore., 19 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, niece Freda Gawf and numerous other friends and family members.
He was preceded in death by sons Kelly Thornley and John Whisenhunt, son-in-law Joe Balding, grandsons Scott Wonser and Dennis Balding, four brothers, and two sisters.
