WHISENANT, Vivian Leitch
Nov. 16, 1923 - Dec. 12, 2011
Resident of Sacramento
Vivian passed away peacefully, surrounded by her husband and children. She was raised in Maryland, where her family ran a general store on Chesapeake Bay. She graduated from Maryland School for the Deaf in 1940. Instead of following through with plans to attend Gallaudet University, she joined the WWII effort with Bendix Radio Corporation as an inspector. She later married, moved to California, raised a family and pursued a career with the Franchise Tax Board. Vivian will always be remembered for her wonderful sense of humor.
Vivian was pre-deceased by father Herbert Leitch, mother Gladys, sister Dorothy, and brother Donald of Maryland. She is survived by husband Ernest Whisenant of Sacramento; daughter Karen Smith Cooper of Aptos; son Randall Smith of Santa Cruz; and 5 grandchildren Marna Cooper Genes, Jill Cooper Misunas, and Steven, Audrey and Alicia Smith.
A memorial service followed by a light luncheon will be held at Rancho Cordova Church of Christ, 10577 Coloma Rd, Rancho Cordova, CA, Friday February 3, 2012, at 11:00 am. Please send donations in her name to American Cancer Society .
