Mrs. Viola Keaton Whisenhunt, 74, of Patria Street in Winston-Salem passed away Saturday, Nov. 24, 2001, at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home following a lengthy illness.
She was born April 26, 1927, in Davie County to the late Thomas T. and Josie Barneycastle Keaton.
Mrs. Whisenhunt was married to the late John Lee Whisenhunt and lived most of her life in Forsyth County, where she was a homemaker.
She was a member of Bethel Church of the Living God.
Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. Patsy (Bill) Thomas and Ms. Magdaline Whisenhunt, both of Winston-Salem, Mrs. Wanda (Ray) Bourne and Mrs. Doris (Tony) Banks, both of Westfield, and Mrs. Carol (Roy) Lafferty of Lexington; a son, Michael L. Whisenhunt (Theresa) of Lexington; eight grandchildren, three stepgrandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren; a brother, Sam Keaton of Lexington; and two sisters, Annie Ruth Wishon of Lexington, and Addie Mae Robbins of Mocksville.
Funeral services will be conducted at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at Vogler & Sons Main Street Chapel by Pastor David Banks. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, and at other times at the home of Michael Whisenhunt (1630 Payne Road in Lexington). Memorials may be made to the Kate B.
