POWELL LEXINGTON Mamie W. Powell April 20, 1933 - Feb. 17, 2012 Mamie Whisenhunt Powell, age 78, of West Center Street Ext. Lexington passed away Friday, February 17, 2012 at Lexington Medical Center. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 19 at Good Hope United Methodist Church with Rev. Chris Bennett officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday and at other times at the home. Mamie was born in Forsyth County on April 20, 1933 to Will Houston Whisenhunt and Sarah Tedder Whisenhunt. She was a retired employee of Lexington Furniture and a member of Good Hope United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Willie Whisenhunt. Surviving are her husband Odell L. Powell of the home; one daughter, Angie Brown and husband Corey of Lexington; one son Rodney Powell of the home; two grandchildren, Sarah and Heather Brown; one sister Mary Keaton of Lexington.
