Faye Marie (Whisenhunt) Douthit (1933-2012)

Faye Marie (Whisenhunt) Douthit, 78, peacefully entered heaven on Tuesday, February 7th, 2012 in Ontario, California in the comfort of her youngest son's family presence.

A family Memorial Service will be held for her on Saturday, February 25th, 2012 at the home of her grandson, Jerry (Christine) Douthit, in Desert Hills, Arizona. Faye was born April 15, 1933 in Grand Saline, Texas to John and Irene Whisenhunt. She married Jimmie Wayne Douthit on June 4th, 1952 in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and they journeyed the world while he was in the U.S. Army. After retiring as an officer from the Army in 1968, the family established roots in Tempe, Arizona. Faye attended Scottsdale Community College and worked as an accountant for Ramada Inn Hotels, while Jim worked for the City of Tempe's Zoning Department. They moved from Tempe to Yuma, Arizona in 1976 where Jim was offered a position with the City of Yuma's Building & Safety Department. Faye managed the Yuma Preschool where she was lovingly titled "Granny Peaches". Faye & Jim both retired in Yuma.

Faye was blessed with six siblings. Brothers: Harold (deceased), Billy Wayne (deceased), James "Buddy" of Fruitvale, TX, and Jerry Don of New Orleans, LA. Sisters: Cynthia Miller of Amarillo, TX and Sue (Joe Bob) Unger of Boyd, TX, and sisters-in law: Lamoine Hardy-Schwark (deceased) of Yuma, AZ and Lanora (Jon) Keller of Scottsdale, AZ.

Faye was preceded in death by her husband Jim, her parents: John and Irene Whisenhunt, and her in-laws: John and Clennia Douthit.

Gardening, fishing and children, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, meant the world to Faye. She leaves behind four children: Michael (Corinne) Douthit of San Diego, CA, John Douthit of Mesa, AZ, Leah (Brian) Vought of Plattsburg, MO, and Ted (Pamela) Douthit of Rancho Cucamonga, CA. Five grandchildren: Matthew (Elyse) Derian of Irving, TX, Jerry (Christine) Douthit of Desert Hills, AZ, Jennifer Douthit of San Diego, CA, Justin (Amanda) Fritter of El Paso, TX, and JoWellen Douthit, of Rancho Cucamonga, CA. Two great-grandchildren: Garrett and Trenton Fritter of El Paso, TX; and many nephews and nieces that were all very special to her.
