Romulus "Ronnie" Whisnant

Romulus "Ronnie" Whisnant, 69, of County Route 15, Sandy Pond, died Tuesday, March 16 at his home.

He was born in Hickory, N.C. and fought in the Army in World War II. He lived in Sandy Creek since 1932.

Whisnant was a self-employed heavy equipment operator and had also worked in the town Highway Department.

Surviving are five brothers, William, Robert, Wade, Gleason, and Jack, all of Catawba County, N.C.; a sister, Mamie Whisnant, of Catawba County, N.C.; and several nieces and nephews.

Services were held at the Summerville Funeral Home, Sandy Creek, with the Rev. Stanley Tanner officiating.

Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery
