Joyce Kay Whisenhunt
A graveside service for Joyce Kay Whisenhunt, 91, of Tyler will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 5, 2012, in Harris Creek Cemetery near Winona with Pastor Larry Craig officiating.
Joyce Kay Whisenhunt was born Jan. 24, 1921, to V.P. and Bettie Smyre Kay in Winona. She moved to a better place on April 27, 2012.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; all six siblings; and Omer, her husband and best friend of 61 years.
Joyce worked in the Tyler public school system, was co-owner and operator of a family restaurant in Tulia, and for the last 13 years of retirement resided at Rosewood Estates in Tyler. Her most important and successful jobs were that of wife and mother and friend.
Joyce is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Fred and Yvetta Whisenhunt of Tyler and Bruce and Cathy Whisenhunt of Aurora, Colo.; five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
