James Whisenant Sr.
James H. Whisenant Sr. James passed away Thursday, May 24, 2012. Jim was born in Bonnerdale, AK on November 24, 1921 to Marion C. & Ruth Dillard Whisenant. Jim was presided in death by both parents and younger brother, Wilmer (Bill) Whisenant. Jim finished one year of college before being drafted in the U.S. Army. He was a WW11 European Theatre POW, a Purple Heart & Bronze Star recipient, served in the Korean War and retired as a Lt. Col. in 1965 from Ft. Lewis WA. Following his military retirement, Jim sold real estate, worked for the North Thurston School District and in the banking industry. In 1993 Jim & his wife Terry retired to Ridgefield, WA. Jim had many hobbies during his retirement years among them crafting, model trains, jewelry making, building doll houses, and watching his humming birds. Jim enjoyed gardening, his outdoor areas always masses of colorful annuals & his most loved roses. Jim is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Terry: half-sister, Judy Becker: three children, Sondra (Mike Rader), Jim, Rhonda (Rick Zipperer); step-sons, Jim Swenson (Sharon), and Mike Swenson (Peggy); ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Interment will be at Evergreen Memorial Gardens, Vancouver WA.
