Vivian Whisenant

Vivian Marlin “Mickey” Whisenant, 85, of Muldrow died Friday, April 20, 2012, in Collinsville, Okla. She was born April 26, 1926, in Braggs, Okla., to her parents, John and Maude (Kennedy) Champlain. Her family moved to the Wagoner area where Mickey grew up and attended school before she was united in marriage to Walter Whisenant. When they moved to Roland, Mickey was a homemaker while Walter worked in the Fort Smith area. They enjoyed fishing on Greenleaf Lake and square dancing, and Mickey was always bowling in a league somewhere. Mickey was also a devoted member of the Pentecostal faith. After Walter’s death, she moved to Muldrow to be with family until her passing.

Mickey was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Walter; a son, Jerry Whisenant; three sisters, Lorean Talley, Geneva Gross and Shirley Williams; and three brothers, Louie, Junior and Leeroy Champlain.

She is survived by her daughter, Mary Thornburg and husband Jerry; her son, Gary Whisenant and wife Linda, all of Muldrow; two sisters, Katherine Kerr of Sperry and Ardith Thompson of Collinsville; seven grandchildren, Michael and Deanna Thornburg, Dustin and Yvonne Whisenant, Mark and Amanda Whisenant, Nikki and Yolanda Whisenant, Eric and Casey Whisenant and Audra Whitesell and Angela Thornburg; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were Monday at the Mallett Funeral Home Chapel in Wagoner.

Mickey’s grandsons and great-grandsons served as pallbearers.

Funeral arrangements and interment in Pioneer Cemetery in Wagoner were directed by Mallett Funeral Home of Wagoner.
