Patricia Anne Whisenhunt

Patricia J. Whisenhunt, formerly of Colorado Springs, died June 25, 2012 of cancer. She was 78. A memorial service is planned for 2:00 PM on July 21, 2012 at St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Eugene, Oregon. She was born on October 31, 1933 in El Dorado, Arkansas to Ellis and Grace Hunt Jelks. She married Eugene B. Whisenhunt in August, 1952 in Shreveport, Louisiana. He died October 25, 1993. Patricia graduated with a degree in education from Centenary College of Louisiana in 1960 and taught at Midland and Grant schools. She was a lifelong teacher, student, mentor and entrepreneur who loved gardening, good books, genealogy, little adventures and making homemade jams. Following her retirement in 1990, Patricia relocated to Oregon in 1995. She remained active in local politics, the church, volunteered at the Lane County Courthouse and area Early Education Programs. Survivors include her daughter, Elizabeth Whisenhunt, great granddaughter Katelyn Haney, 1 granddaughter and 2 great grandsons, all of Springfield, Oregon.
