Jamar Markese Whisnant
SHELBY -- Mr. Jamar Markese Whisnant, 14, of 1146 Airport Road, Shelby, answered the Lord's call and went home on Wednesday, August 8, 2012, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.
He was born January 20, 1998, to Larry Lamar Whisnant and Erica Yvette Poston.
From the day he was born, he was special in every way. His smile said it all. He was humble, peaceful and strong, yet gentle. He never complained about anything. He had a passion for sports and was excited about becoming a Golden Lion and entering ninth grade at Shelby High School. He was a student that was consistent with maintaining A/B honor roll and was a current member of the Junior Beta Club. In addition, Jamar was definitely a Carolina Panthers fan and a UNC-Chapel Hill basketball fan.
Jamar was preceded in death by his great-grandparents, Leonard Bobby Whisnant, Christine Thompson, Adolphus Thompson Sr. and C.J. and Sarah Hoey.
He is survived by his parents, Larry Lamar Whisnant and Erica Yvette Poston both of Shelby; his sister, De'Azah Monique Poston and brother Trevionne Jamarkus Whisnant both of the home; his grandparents, Debra Ann Poston, Dorothy Bell Whisnant (Hershal), Arthur George Poston, Sr., all of Shelby and Larry Eugene Hoey (Saundra) of Gastonia, NC; his great-grandparents, Mary Alice Brooks (John) of Shelby; five uncles, Dameion Poston, Shawn Whisnant (Latoya) both of Shelby, Arthur Poston, Jr. (Kari) of Concord, NC, Chuck Sims of Greensboro, NC and Rhonshocki Flacks (Lawanna) of Shelby; aunts, Leslie Poston of Gastonia, NC, Melissa Sims of Charlotte, NC, Santanna Whisnant of Shelby and Sheena Thurman of Charlotte, NC; a special cousin, Michael "Pooh: of Shelby; a special friend, Kavacia Shell of Shelby and a host of great-uncles and aunts, cousins and friends.
VISITATION: The family will receive friends from 2-3 p.m. Tuesday at Shiloh Baptist Church
FUNERAL SERVICE: Tuesday at 3 p.m. at Shiloh Baptist Church
