Ethel Kincaid
MORGANTON Ethel Whisenant Kincaid, 81, of Morganton, went to her Heavenly home Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2012, at the Burke Palliative Care Center. Born June 10, 1931, in Burke County, she was the daughter of the late John Whisenant and Phoebe Branch Whisenant. Ethel was a member of Mountain Grove United Methodist Church and was a retired United Methodist minister. She is survived by her husband, Ralph Harbison Kincaid, of the home; daughters, Effie Lorena Kincaid Arthur and husband, Mike, of Monroe, and Patricia "Patty" Kincaid Smith and husband, Leonard "Junior," of Morganton; grandchildren, Jaime Arthur Wallace and husband, Mike, of Gastonia, and Jesse Smith and wife, Amanda, of Morganton; great-grandchildren, Ashlyn Wallace, Morgan Wallace and Gwendolyn Smith; brother, Anderson Fox, of Raleigh; and sisters, Margaret Benfield, Irene Powell and Naomi Freeman, all of Morganton. In addition to her parents, Ethel was preceded in death by her uncle and aunt who raised her, Jimmy Lee Whisenant and Sallie Whisenant; three sisters, Mable, Iva and Rassie; and brother, Calvin Whisenant. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 7, at Mountain Grove United Methodist Church with the Revs. Neal F. Brantley, Jr. and Donald Freshour officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends this evening (Thursday, Sept. 6) from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center.
