Clarence Whisnant
SHELBY - Clarence Ray Whisnant, 78, of 633 E. Sanders Road, passed away September 13, at Cleveland Pines Nursing Center, surrounded by his family after a long battle with Alzheimer's. Born January 25, 1934 in Cleveland County, he was a son of the late Crawford Craig Whisnant and Lila Dell Thomas Whisnant. Ray worked for Doran Textiles and Carolina Dairy. He was a member of Fallston Baptist Church and served in the US Air Force.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter, Lisa Jo Whisnant and a daughter-in-law, Sheila Whisnant. Ray is survived by his loving and caring wife of 53 years, J.P. Whisnant; two sons, Tracy Whisnant of Shelby and Kevin Whisnant and wife, Lisa of Belwood; two grandsons, Zachary Whisnant and Clayton Whisnant; two sisters, Lucille Edwards of Shelby and Carolyn Ramsey of Elk Park, MI; and his faithful chihuahua, Abby.
Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., Sunday at Stamey Funeral Home, Fallston. Funeral services are 4:00 p.m., Sunday, at Fallston Baptist Church, Fallston with the Rev. David Blanton officiating. Burial will take place at Rose Hill Memorial Park, Fallston.
