Ann Whisnant
Richmond, VA - Ann Ingram Whisnant, a native and long-time resident of Lenoir, North Carolina, died on Friday, November 9, 2012, in Richmond, Virginia, where she had been living for the past 15 years.
The daughter of the late Joseph Thomas and Pearl Minish Ingram and the sister of the late Sarah Ingram Parker, Ann was born on May 29, 1924. She was married for more than 40 years to Lenoir lawyer Dickson Whisnant, who died in 1991. She is survived by one son, Tom Whisnant and wife Becky of Lenoir; three daughters, Annette Hook of Richmond, Susan Wertz and husband Brian of Richmond, and Amy Caroline Whisnant of Wiesbaden, Germany; and four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
A graduate of Greensboro College with a degree in music, Ann was a talented pianist and organist. In addition to raising her family, she taught private music lessons and played the organ at First United Methodist Church Lenoir. She was a dedicated member of the Lenoir Service League, Priscilla Club, Garden Club, Needlepoint Group and the Community Music Club. In her free time, she enjoyed bird watching, doing needlework and playing bridge with friends.
A memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church of Lenoir at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 17. A time of fellowship with the family will follow the service.
